A gas-line incident in Dallas' Design District injured two contractors during a pressure test just before 4 a.m. Monday, Dallas Fire-Rescue (DFR) said. DFR reported one worker was released from the hospital and the other remained in critical condition after the explosion outside an apartment building on Turtle Creek Boulevard.

DFR said the contractor was pressure-testing a line with air when the line exploded. Atmos Energy said the work involved air only, did not involve natural gas, and its pipeline was not damaged during the worksite event.

No damage to the apartment building or neighboring structures was reported. DFR said tenants had been evacuated earlier this month after a separate gas reading incident and returned after 24 hours with no readings.

The incident and hospital transports were documented by DFR and Atmos Energy.
