FWC installs markers to create designated anchoring areas across several Keys harbors

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission began placing buoys and signs on Sept. 16 to define where vessels may anchor in parts of multiple Monroe County harbors. The effort targets Boot Key, Bahia Honda, Niles Channel, Cow Key Channel, Sigsbee, Garrison Bight Flats and Fleming Key and follows legislative changes enacted in 2022, officials say.
