Wake County prosecutors filed criminal charges against a former NC State athletics trainer arrested in Florida and connected to alleged abuse of student-athletes. The subject worked at NC State from January 2012 to June 2022 and was suspended in January 2022.

Court papers accuse the trainer of 32 s3x-related charges, including nine felony counts and 23 counts of s3xual battery tied to 14 reported incidents between October 2016 and September 2021. The indictment describes alleged s3xual contact or penetration under the pretext of medical treatment.

The defendant waived extradition during an initial Florida court appearance; authorities have said he remains in Florida custody and timing for his return to Wake County is unclear.

NC State says it will cooperate with law enforcement; the university previously conducted a Title IX investigation in 2022 and civil litigation over related claims was dismissed on procedural grounds in June.

All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
