Former Miami‑Dade high school coach arrested on custodial sexual assault charge
A former Miami‑Dade high school football coach was arrested Friday and charged with custodial sexual assault, Miami‑Dade Jail records show. William Adam Jones, 46, worked as a football coach and security guard at the high school from 2007 to 2019; the school was not named. An arrest warrant alleges that in August 2012, when the victim was 17 and a member of the school's football program who helped create the team schedule, Jones turned off the lights in the athletic office, approached and pinned her against a wall, kissed her and forced intercourse, and that the two later had sex three times at the school before she turned 18; the warrant also says they had consensual sex at her residence after she reached 18 and developed a relationship while she was still enrolled. Jones is employed by the Miami‑Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department and has been relieved of duty pending the sheriff’s office investigation; the inquiry and criminal case remain active. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
