Former Florida City officer arrested after alleged social-media threats against police and city officials
A 54-year-old former Florida City police officer was arrested early Friday after investigators say she posted threats to shoot the police station and city officials on social media. Police say the woman traveled from Jacksonville to Miami International Airport Thursday and then used a private transport to reach Florida City; officers were notified of the online threats and began an immediate inquiry. While speaking with a dispatcher she allegedly made additional threats; officers located her soon after at a local restaurant, where she is accused of resisting arrest before being taken into custody on multiple felony counts that the department did not specify. Her employment with the Florida City Police Department ended in 2019; the case has been forwarded for prosecution and processing is pending. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
