Flood advisories canceled for parts of northern Miami‑Dade and central Broward as heavy rain moves out
Flood advisories for portions of northern Miami‑Dade County and central Broward County were canceled Thursday afternoon after thunderstorms moved through much of South Florida. The Miami‑Dade advisory, covering Hialeah, Miami Gardens, Miami Lakes, Opa‑Locka, Country Club, Westview, the area near Hard Rock Stadium and Saint Thomas University, had been in effect until 5:15 p.m.; Doppler radar showed heavy rain there at 3:21 p.m. with 1 to 3 inches already reported and another 1 to 3 inches expected before the advisory expired. The Broward advisory, covering a wide central stretch including Fort Lauderdale, Oakland Park, Lauderdale Lakes and Wilton Manors, had been set to expire at 5:45 p.m.; radar at 2:39 p.m. indicated 1 to 2.5 inches had fallen and an additional 1 to 2 inches were possible. Forecasters warned of minor flooding in low‑lying and poorly drained locations, water over roadways and overflowing drainage systems, and urged drivers to use caution and avoid flooded areas where possible; highs are forecast in the low 90s for another hot, humid day.
