Fight at Miami Northwestern leads to stabbing, three students arrested
A Monday fight inside Miami Northwestern Senior High School resulted in an 18-year-old student being stabbed and three students taken into custody, police said. Investigators reported video showing one student attacked by two others before the student retrieved a light-colored blade and ran down a hallway; surveillance footage and cellphone video were cited in the arrest report. The injured 18-year-old suffered a puncture wound to the right side of his back that required stitches; the student accused of using the knife also sustained lacerations to two fingers that needed stitches. An assistant principal intercepted the student fleeing to the school parking lot, recovered the knife from the student’s rear pocket and turned the student over to the Miami-Dade Schools Police Department; processing and charges were not detailed in the report, and authorities remain investigating. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
