Father arrested after deputies say he struck 5-year-old with squeegee in Kendall West home
A Miami-Dade man was arrested Tuesday after deputies allege he struck his 5-year-old daughter multiple times with a plastic bathroom squeegee during a shower at their Kendall West area home on Sept. 8. Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office detectives said the action followed a confrontation about the girl’s “poor behavior in school,” and the chld had visible bruising on her buttocks that lasted more than three days. During a chld abuse investigation, deputies say the 44-year-old told them he had tried verbal discipline before “escalating” to spanking with the squeegee and acknowledged the school had reported the chld’s conduct. Deputies arrested the man and the investigation remains active. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
