Driver arrested after pursuit ends in crash on railroad tracks in West Miami
West Miami officers attempted a traffic stop Saturday that escalated when the driver fled and nearly struck an officer, police said. A pursuit followed and ended when the truck crashed near the railroad tracks off Northwest 12th Street; video from the scene showed a vehicle matching Mercury One’s truck on the tracks. Police released that records revealed the driver had an active Polk County warrant for grand theft; the suspect’s identity and formal charges have not been released. The investigation into the incident remains active. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
