Driver Accused of DUI Crashes SUV Through Southwest Miami‑Dade Home, kll Resident
On June 24, investigators say a man drove through a southwest Miami‑Dade yard, into a house and struck an elderly resident who was sleeping inside, kll him; a relative was also inside the home. Body camera footage released by deputies shows officers speaking with the driver and other residents at the scene shortly after the collision. An arrest report alleges the driver was intoxicated, at nearly three and a half times the legal limit, and detectives told him they were investigating a potential DUI; on camera he is heard denying responsibility. Authorities arrested the driver and say the investigation is ongoing as prosecutors review the case. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
