Doral crash after deputy traffic stop leaves driver dead, deputies say
A violent crash in Doral during a traffic stop left another driver critically injured and later dead, deputies said. Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies from the Robbery Intervention Unit were conducting a traffic stop when they say a car sped away; surveillance video shows a vehicle racing through the area moments before a violent impact. Deputies identified the fleeing driver as 21-year-old Luis Manuel Perez and said he had been wanted for military desertion; other video angles captured the force of the collision. Witnesses reported hearing a loud boom; the struck driver was rushed to the hospital and later died. The sheriff’s office is investigating the crash and the circumstances of the traffic stop and flight by the suspect. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
