DeSoto shooting left one man dead; suspect jailed, police say

A shooting in a DeSoto neighborhood left one man dead and another in custody, the DeSoto Police Department said. Officers responded to the Killdee Court after receiving reports shortly before 8 a.m. Thursday and found a 36-year-old man unresponsive in the street with an apparent gunshot wound.
Police said the victim was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center and was pronounced dead. Investigators allege 32-year-old Joseph Bryant approached the victim on the street, shot him at close range as captured on nearby surveillance video, then drove away.
About 90 minutes later, Bryant returned and surrendered with family assistance. DeSoto police identified the two men as neighbors with an ongoing dispute and said the investigation remained ongoing; Bryant was being held at the DeSoto Regional Jail awaiting arraignment.
