Officials in Dallas prepared for heavy rain and potential flooding on September 30, 2026, as state authorities positioned additional emergency resources across Texas. Forecasters warned that portions of North Texas could receive several inches of rain and isolated spots could get significantly higher amounts.

The governor directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to stage assets including members of the Texas National Guard, swiftwater rescue boat teams and high-water rescue vehicles from Texas A&M Task Force 1. State briefings said more than 1,900 emergency responders and more than 1,500 pieces of equipment were predeployed.

Dallas Water Utilities reviewed known flood-prone locations and monitored conditions using its Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition network, which included more than 80 rain gauges and 46 flooded-roadway warning signs. City leaders urged residents to sign up for DALLASALERT emergency notifications and to watch for official flood warnings.
