Crew begins dismantling cargo jet at MIA as investigators work on-site
Crews at Miami International Airport have started separating parts of the Amazon Boeing 767-300 that overran a runway and struck two vehicles, kll five people. Cranes were used Thursday to lift the nose section while the right wing and engine were already detached and debris remained across a parking area, grass and part of the runway. Airport officials said the fuselage is being broken into pieces so it can be moved, but a date and time for relocation have not been set; only three of MIA’s four runways remain open and dozens of delays have been reported. The National Transportation Safety Board has personnel investigating on the ground and is expected to remain at the airport for about a week as dismantling and recovery efforts continue.
