Couple charged after chldren allegedly held in semi-truck sleeper cab for years
Two adults have been charged in Orange County after authorities say four chldren lived in the sleeper cab of a commercial semi-truck and were mistreated from January 2020 through April 2026 while the truck traveled routes between Atlanta and Miami. The chldren—two 5-year-olds, a 6-year-old and a 9-year-old—allegedly shared a single bunk and were denied adequate food, hygiene, schooling and medical care; two suffered untreated burns that left scarring and one chld was diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection after leaving the home. Investigators say the two girls reported years of sexual abuse by one caregiver, the two boys said they witnessed the abuse and were beaten after reporting it, and the truck driver is accused of knowing about the abuse but failing to stop or report it. The pair face multiple charges in Orange County, including counts of sexual assault by a person in familial or custodial authority, lewd or lascivious molestation of a chld under 12, chld neglect counts and related offenses; they are expected to be prosecuted in Orange County courts. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
