Cargo jet veers off runway, strikes cleaning van and SUV outside Miami airport
An Amazon cargo plane operated by 21 Air went off the end of a runway Sunday afternoon outside Miami International Airport, struck ground navigational equipment, collided with a contract cleaning van carrying seven people and continued through a perimeter fence before hitting a Toyota Corolla Cross traveling on NW 67th Avenue. The aircraft caught fire and came to rest beside a parking lot. Five people were kll and five others were injured; three of the injured were reported in critical condition. The National Transportation Safety Board said it is investigating the sequence of events and held a press conference Monday where officials provided the above details.
