Cargo Jet Overshoots Runway at MIA, Slams Into Vehicles; Five People kll
A cargo plane overshot a runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday, crashed into vehicles near the airport and burst into flames, kll five people who were in two vehicles struck during the incident. Five others were injured, including the pilot and co‑pilot, who were treated and released from a Miami hospital; three additional people remain hospitalized in critical condition. The Miami‑Dade Sheriff’s Office has maintained a continuous on‑scene presence to secure and preserve the scene, provide traffic control and support families, and its Homicide Bureau is conducting a criminal investigation. The National Transportation Safety Board has opened a probe into the cause of the crash, and investigators say they will continue to work at the airport and keep family members informed as the inquiry proceeds.
