Cargo jet overruns runway at MIA, slams into airport service van; five cleaning workers kll

A cargo Boeing 767 overshot the runway at Miami International Airport Sunday afternoon and struck a work van on an airport service road, kll five airport cleaning company employees and injuring others. Miami-Dade authorities confirmed two van occupants survived and an SUV driver struck as the aircraft crossed the perimeter fence also survived. The plane, operated by 21 Air on behalf of Amazon, collided with vehicles after leaving the runway and traveling off airport property onto Northwest 67th Avenue. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office identified the five deceased workers, and the company that employed them issued a statement mourning the losses and asking for privacy; authorities say the crash remains under investigation.
