Cargo jet overran runway at MIA, kll 5 and disrupting hundreds of flights
A cargo plane went off the end of a runway at Miami International Airport around 2 p.m. Sunday, crashing into several vehicles and kll five people while injuring five others. Airport authorities issued a ground stop initially; arrivals and departures have since resumed but delays and cancellations remain heavy. As of Monday afternoon, FlightAware reported about 360 delayed departures and 89 cancellations at MIA, stranding some holiday travelers and disrupting group connections. Local officials say the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
