Car crashes into Far North Dallas auto shop, then ignites; driver, helpers fled
A vehicle veered off the road and struck the side of an auto repair shop in Far North Dallas at about 2 a.m. on Monday, then caught fire after impact. Security cameras recorded the car breaching a guardrail before colliding with the building.
Police said no one was injured, but officers were still seeking the driver. Three people ran into the shop and helped the driver exit the vehicle shortly before flames appeared, according to investigators.
The shop owner reviewed the security footage and learned of the crash from missed calls from police. Law enforcement reported the driver and the three helpers left the scene prior to first responders arriving; it was not clear whether charges would be filed.
