On August 19, Key West sportfishing captain Pete Collins celebrated his 54th birthday with a half-day charter on the Conchenstein boat. Near the entrance to Garrison Bight, Collins was bringing his guests back to Charter Boat Row when he encountered an unexpected situation. The boat's engine suddenly failed, leaving the group stranded in the water. Captain Collins, demonstrating his training and experience, quickly organized a water rescue, ensuring all guests were safely brought back to shore.
