Boat slides off trailer on Bayshore Drive; driver faces DUI allegations
A boat separated from its trailer and slid along Bayshore Drive in East Naples on Saturday, leaving the vessel in the roadway and prompting a response from the Collier County Sheriff’s Office.
Naples resident Jaslene Lopez recorded the boat as it continued moving down the road. Surveillance video from Sawyer’s Outboard Service also captured the vessel coming free from the trailer. Shop owner Kit Sawyer estimated that the boat traveled about 400 feet before coming to rest behind the towing vehicle.
Deputies identified the driver as Corbin Dacey. According to the sheriff’s office information cited in the original report, Dacey attempted to leave after deputies arrived. Deputies reported slurred speech, glassy eyes and difficulty maintaining his balance during their investigation.
Dacey was arrested on allegations of driving under the influence and refusing a requested DUI test. The published account did not report whether anyone was injured, how the boat became detached or the extent of any damage.
