Arrest made in 1993 Dallas homicide after DNA match

Dallas police announced an arrest in a cold-case homicide that occurred inside a home on Haskell Avenue in Dallas. Officers charged 56-year-old Gary Len Ross, who had been using the name Tommy Lynn Jones, with capital murder related to the 1993 death.
Detectives said the victim was found on May 18, 1993. Investigators reported the woman had been beaten with a two-by-four and cut with a knife. Blood recovered at the original scene produced a DNA profile when retested.
The department entered that profile into the Combined DNA Index System (CODIS), which returned a match to the alias used by Ross. Detective Andrea Isom led the reinvestigation, and police stated the inquiry remained active.
Anyone with information was asked to contact Detective Isom at 214-671-3701.
