Amazon pauses 21 Air flights after Miami runway overrun that kll five
Amazon said it has suspended its contract with 21 Air after a Boeing 767 operated by the carrier overshot the runway at Miami International Airport on Sept. 6 and traveled about 1,300 feet past the runway end before striking a van, kll five people and injuring five others. The North Carolina-based carrier had been flying packages for Amazon since 2024. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating, reviewing the jet's ownership history, weather conditions, maintenance records and 21 Air's operations; NTSB data released Sept. 9 shows a pilot warned the other they were too fast on approach and after touchdown. Amazon said it will continue cooperating with investigators and supporting those affected.
