Activists, Leaders Urge Doral to Cancel 287(g) Agreement with ICE
Activists and current and former elected officials held a news conference Tuesday urging Doral to end the city’s 287(g) agreement, which allows local police to assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement with immigration enforcement. City leaders signed the agreement in 2025. Speakers said the policy is harming the city — noting that about 70% of residents were born outside the U.S., roughly 40% are of Venezuelan origin, and some business owners report revenue drops of 40–70%. Organizers are pressing city officials to rescind the agreement and say they will escalate appeals to state and federal policymakers if leaders do not act.
