17-year-old charged as adult after teen sh0t near Riverside Park
A 17-year-old was arrested Aug. 31 and is being charged as an adult in the June 14 sh00ting of a teenager near Miami’s Riverside Park. Police say officers responded about 11:11 p.m., found the wounded teen and an officer applied a tourniquet to the victim’s left leg before Miami Fire Rescue transported him to a trauma center. Investigators recovered three 9 mm spent shell casings from the roadway and say the victim told them two masked males approached, one brandished a handgun with a green laser, and he ran before feeling his leg heat. The suspect was booked into the MetroWest Detention Center; the case will move forward in the adult court system. All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
