Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a 52-year-old woman after deputies say she left the store with unpaid merchandise from an Ocala Walmart and then returned to take more items.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded after store staff reported an ongoing retail theft. Surveillance footage reportedly showed the woman enter with an empty cart and reusable bags, fill one cart with merchandise, bypass points of sale and load those items into her vehicle. She then allegedly re-entered the store, filled a second cart with nearly 100 items and was stopped by a loss prevention associate as she tried to exit.

Deputies interviewed the woman and, after being read her Miranda rights, she allegedly admitted she did not intend to pay for the items in the first cart and said she “messed up and made a mistake.” A search of her vehicle reportedly turned up additional stolen items. The arrest report lists recovered merchandise valued at $862.75 in total.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office placed the woman under arrest; she was taken to the county jail and released after posting bond. She faces a charge of grand theft (property valued between $750 and $5,000) and was issued a trespass warning. Jail records showed no court date yet scheduled, according to the report.

All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
