Wildwood motorist arrested after traffic stop finds suspended license and chld-support writ

A Wildwood traffic stop led to the arrest of a 31-year-old man on charges including driving while license suspended and a probation violation. The Wildwood Police Department stopped the driver after radar recorded him traveling 54 mph in a 35-mph zone on County Road 209. The stop occurred around 7:20 p.m. and was documented in an arrest report from the department.
Officers identified the driver as Steven Alexander Johnson and learned he did not have his license on him. A records check found the license was suspended—most recently for unpaid chld support and previously for financial responsibility—and that an active writ of bodily attachment related to chld support existed, according to the Wildwood Police Department report. The report also notes multiple prior convictions for driving with an invalid license and that Johnson is currently on probation for possession of a firearm/ammunition by a convicted felon.
Based on the department’s investigation, Johnson was arrested on charges of driving while license suspended (second or subsequent offense) and for violation of probation. The officer arranged for a family member to retrieve the vehicle; the report records that the family was familiar with prior incidents. These details are drawn directly from the Wildwood Police Department arrest report.
Johnson was booked at the Sumter County Detention Center; holds were placed by Lee and Osceola counties, and the arrest report documents the current charges and custody status. No additional outcomes, injuries, or court dates are reported in the arrest record.
