A pedestrian was struck and died in a hit-and-run crash on U.S. 192 in Kissimmee just before 3 a.m. on Friday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers say the man ran across the westbound lanes of U.S. 192 (Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway) near International Drive and was not in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a westbound vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and the medical examiner’s office is handling identity release procedures.

Florida Highway Patrol traffic homicide investigators processed the scene, locating vehicle parts they believe came from the striking car. Investigators say the vehicle likely is a 2007–2010 Ford Edge with a silver body and black top and that damage would be expected to the front right headlight and hood. Troopers reported that the driver fled the scene after the collision; that allegation is part of the ongoing investigation conducted by FHP.

Proven facts in the case, as documented by FHP, include the time and location of the collision, the pedestrian’s death at the scene, recovery of car parts, and that the crash remains under active investigation. Allegations — including the vehicle make and the driver’s actions after impact — are being pursued by investigators but have not been proven in court.

The westbound lanes of U.S. 192 were reopened after the scene was cleared. Anyone with information about the vehicle or driver is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol at *347 or CRIMELINE at 1-800-423-TIPS.
