Third person charged in Jackson death investigation

A third person has been charged in the death of Tasia Fortune in Jackson. Jackson Police announced that Eric Clark, 45, was charged with murder after turning himself in, and he was expected to appear in Jackson Municipal Court on the next business day.
The development followed a preliminary hearing in which investigators disclosed that Fortune’s hanging had been staged, according to the agency. Jackson Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death and announced the new charge on Friday; arrest and charge details were provided by the department.
Allegations in the case as reported by the investigating agency include staging of the hanging and the murder charge against Eric Clark. Those are agency statements and charged allegations; the report does not document a conviction or trial outcome. Court scheduling was identified as an immediate procedural step when the defendant was expected to appear in municipal court.
The investigation remains active and under the jurisdiction of Jackson Police. No additional injuries, motives, or investigative conclusions were documented in the reporting; published information limited the factual record to the staged-hanging finding at the preliminary hearing, the new murder charge, the suspect’s surrender, and the ongoing police inquiry.
