Second-floor blaze renders Milwaukee home uninhabitable; no injuries reported

A house in Milwaukee was rendered uninhabitable after a fire that broke out Friday night, Sept. 25, near 6th and Chambers. The Milwaukee Fire Department reports the blaze produced heavy smoke and visible fire from a second-floor front window when crews arrived just before 7 p.m.
Firefighters deployed hose lines and ladders to bring the fire under control and conducted three separate searches of the entire structure. Crews made contact with a second-floor occupant on scene who told them everyone was out of the building; all searches proved clear of people. There were no firefighter or occupant injuries reported.
The Milwaukee Fire Department’s Fire Investigation Unit is handling the investigation into the cause and origin of the fire. At this time the structure is described as heavily damaged and uninhabitable.
