The Scott County Sheriff's Office is seeking Michael A. Nelson, 38, in connection with alleged s3x offender registration violations, the agency reported on Sept. 24, 2026. Authorities have classified Nelson as wanted and published a physical description to assist the public: approximately 6 feet tall, 228 pounds, black hair and brown eyes.

According to the public notice issued Sept. 24, 2026, the sheriff’s office identified Nelson as wanted for failing to meet s3x offender registration requirements. That characterization is an allegation documented by the investigating agency; there is no public record in the notice that charges have been adjudicated or that an arrest has been made.

The sheriff’s office asked the public to provide anonymous information to Crime Stoppers of the Quad Cities. Tips can be called in to 309-762-9500 or submitted through the P3 Tips app; the notice states that tips will remain anonymous and that a cash reward is available if information leads to an arrest.

At this time, the active status in the published notice is “wanted.” The sheriff’s office is the listed investigating agency, and the published description and reporting date are intended to help locate Nelson and resolve the registration allegation. The public should contact Crime Stoppers or the Scott County Sheriff’s Office with any verifiable information rather than attempt to make contact or an apprehension independently.

All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
