A mass shooting in Sanford injured eight people, and investigators say there have been no arrests and no publicly named suspects. The incident occurred during a yearly memorial gathering in the Goldsboro area; neighbors, faith leaders and city officials later held a vigil at Coastline Park where community members sought to support one another.

Sanford Police say the investigation is active but incomplete. Officials report receiving a limited number of Crimeline tips so far and are asking anyone who was in the area the night of the shooting to check phones and social media for photos or video. Investigators say surveillance and citizen media may help identify two BMW 530i sedans that were seen driving recklessly near the scene; police say they have the cars and are working to determine the drivers’ identities.

Agency sources describe the probe as piecing together many disparate elements to form a complete picture. The police chief told the crowd that investigators are continuing to assemble evidence and urged patience while detectives analyze tips and digital content. At this stage, authorities confirm the eight people were injured and emphasize that no arrests have been made.

Current case status: active investigation, no arrests, no publicly named suspects, and police continue to solicit anonymous Crimeline tips. Community leaders and investigators have held public outreach to encourage cooperation and information sharing.
