A 2-year-old chld was found walking in the middle of a roadway near Jones Road and Talisi Loop in Osceola County late Saturday night, and deputies arrested the chld’s parents after arriving on scene. Deputies responded after a passing driver stopped, removed the chld from traffic and called 911.

According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at 11:39 p.m. and located the chld wearing only a diaper and a tank top; the chld was reportedly crying and frightened. Deputies canvassed the neighborhood, found the front door of a nearby home open, and attempted to contact residents listed at the address in the Talisi Loop. The chld’s father was reached by phone but ended the call, the agency said.

About an hour after deputies’ initial arrival, the sheriff’s office reports the chld’s parents arrived at the home and were described as uncooperative. The agency arrested the father, 36-year-old Johnny JeanBaptiste, and the mother, 32-year-old Stacia McMillian; both were booked into the Osceola County Jail on a charge of chld neglect without great bodily harm, the sheriff’s office reported.

The Florida Department of Children and Families was notified and a family member took custody of the chld, according to the sheriff’s office. The reported facts above reflect the sheriff’s office account; charging allegations are documented by arrest and booking information.

All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
