Orange County Commission to Vote on $9 Billion-Plus Fiscal 2026-27 Budget

Orange County commissioners will hold a final public hearing and vote on the proposed fiscal year 2026-27 budget in Orange County, Florida. The plan presented by county leadership totals more than $9 billion and schedules the final vote for 5 p.m. at the Orange County Administration Center.

County officials say the proposed budget prioritizes public safety, infrastructure, housing, economic development and quality-of-life programs. More than $1 billion is proposed for first responders and other public safety services. County materials indicate roughly 53% of the county’s property tax revenue supports those services.

Officials have flagged potential revenue risks tied to a statewide ballot proposal identified by county leadership as Amendment 3. The county estimates passage of that amendment could reduce property tax revenue by about $165 million in 2027 and about $275 million in 2028, creating a budgetary challenge that could force difficult decisions on spending and service levels.

Separately, county documents note transportation funding is strained: the purchasing power of each transportation dollar has declined by about 42% since 2019; the cost to build a mile of new roadway is reported to have increased 72% since 2019; and resurfacing costs have more than doubled since 2020. Commissioners are also expected to discuss homelessness and the need for additional affordable housing during budget deliberations.

At the scheduled public hearing, commissioners will consider the full budget proposal and associated allocations. The county’s published figures and timeline form the basis for the reported revenue, cost and program details in this notice.
