A 64-year-old man was shot during an attempted robbery inside a Streeterville parking garage on October 2, 2026, Chicago Police said. The victim was getting into his vehicle at the East Illinois Street garage about 6:30 p.m. when two men confronted him and demanded property; one of the men then produced a gun and shot the victim in the side. The wounded man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and was initially reported in good condition, according to CPD.

Surveillance footage and a preliminary CPD report indicate the two suspects left the garage and walked west on Grand Avenue to the Whole Foods parking structure at East Grand Avenue. There they confronted a 29-year-old man at gunpoint, took his phone and wallet, and drove off in his gray Subaru Forester. The second victim was not injured.

Police described the suspects as Black males wearing face masks and said the incidents are under investigation. No arrests or charges were reported in the preliminary statement from Chicago police.
