Felony charges were filed against 22-year-old Jerrick Moore after a South Side shooting that critically wounded a man on Sept. 15. Chicago police say Moore faces one count of attempted murder and one count of aggravated battery with the discharge of a firearm for an incident in Avalon Park on South Euclid Avenue.
Police allege the 46-year-old victim was walking to his car when Moore opened fire, striking him six times in the lower body. The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to Chicago police statements.
Authorities said Moore fled on foot after the shooting and was taken into custody in Calumet Heights the following day. Prosecutors reported Moore appeared in court for a detention hearing on Friday, where the new charges were presented. The charges are allegations; no conviction is noted in those filings.
Chicago police remain the source of the incident and charging details as the case proceeds through the court system.
