Man charged after shots fired at woman in Orange County courthouse garage

A man is jailed after deputies say he fired at a woman on the fourth floor of the Orange County Courthouse parking garage in Orlando. Deputies identified the suspect as a 26-year-old and said he fired two shots at the woman around 11:30 a.m.; the suspect left the scene and was taken into custody later that evening.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred on the courthouse garage’s fourth level. Deputies say the suspect, Kenneth Logan Jr., faces nine charges that include attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, armed burglary, false imprisonment with a weapon, and aggravated stalking. Logan appeared before a judge the following morning and was not granted bond.

The incident prompted questions about who is responsible for security at the courthouse parking facility. In emailed responses, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office stated that the Orlando Police Department is responsible for the multistory parking garage north of the courthouse complex and the parking loop at the front of the property; the City of Orlando replied that Orange County is responsible for security, including CCTV at the courthouse garage. The Ninth Judicial Circuit directed questions to OPD and OCSO and said the agencies will assess security matters as facts unfold.

At this time, the shooting and the criminal charges are the documented facts. Deputies’ account provides the allegations; the status of any investigation, evidence details, and prosecution developments remain those reported by law enforcement and court proceedings.

All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
