Man arrested after alleged jar assault, interference with 911 call in Mobile County
Mobile police say officers arrested a man Friday morning after an alleged assault with a glass jar in the Dutchman Woods Drive area of Mobile. Responding units reported they were dispatched to the Dutchman Woods Drive at about 9:28 a.m. for a disturbance. Investigators allege a male suspect struck another man with a glass jar while attempting to take the victim’s phone as the victim tried to call 911.
The agency reported the victim suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Mobile Police allege the suspect attempted to prevent the emergency call; officers on scene took the suspect into custody shortly after arriving. The suspect was identified by police as David McFry, 33.
According to the department, McFry was booked into the Mobile County Metro Jail and faces charges of second-degree domestic violence and interfering with a domestic violence emergency call. Those charges were reported by the police; charging documents and court actions beyond the booking were not detailed in the agency’s release.
At this time the Mobile Police report the arrest and booking as the current public status of the case. No additional outcomes, court dates, statements from the injured party, or medical prognoses were provided in the police account.
