Major crash in north Charlotte sends five to hospital; Beatties Ford Road closed for hours

A major crash in north Charlotte sent five people to area hospitals early Monday morning, emergency medical responders said. The incident occurred on Beatties Ford Road near the intersections with Lakeview Road and Trinity Road and prompted a multi-agency response.
According to MEDIC, responders began transporting patients around midnight. One person was taken with life-threatening injuries, three people were seriously hurt, and a fifth sustained injuries that MEDIC described as not life-threatening. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Unit closed Beatties Ford Road from Lakeview Road to Trinity Road at about 12:20 a.m., and the closure persisted for several hours while investigators and utility crews worked on scene.
CMPD’s Major Crash Unit led the crash investigation while MEDIC handled patient transport. Duke Energy crews were reported on site repairing damaged utility lines; the utility work was ongoing into the morning, which contributed to the prolonged road closure. Reported injury severities above come from MEDIC’s initial patient assessments; they reflect responding agencies’ statements rather than judicial findings.
As of the last available update, the roadway remained closed and the investigation was active. CMPD’s Major Crash Unit and other responding agencies were continuing on-scene work; no arrests, citations, or final contributing factors had been confirmed in the reports reviewed.
