A former Middleburg High School employee is the subject of a Nassau County Sheriff’s Office inquiry that preceded his recent arrest in Clay County. Robert Rahn III, 36, who worked as a behavioral health assistant at Middleburg High from August 2021 until February 2022, was arrested by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office on seven counts of possessing chld s3xual abuse material and is being held at the Clay County Jail.

Nassau County detectives began an inquiry in 2024 after local parents reported concerns about Rahn’s social media activity, according to sources connected to the investigation. Deputies concluded that initial probe without finding evidence of criminal wrongdoing at that time. The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office’s involvement stems from those earlier local reports and subsequent review of accounts raised by parents.

Allegations and proven facts are distinct in the public record: law enforcement in Clay County has charged Rahn with multiple counts related to chld s3xual abuse material and taken him into custody; the Nassau County investigation earlier did not develop into criminal charges. A woman who identified herself as a former partner and the mother of Rahn’s chld said she removed him from her family’s life in 2024 after examining messaging records and after parents contacted her about attempts to add children on social platforms.

At this time the Clay County Sheriff’s Office is handling the criminal case and Rahn remains in the Clay County Jail. Nassau County records reflect the earlier employment dates and the county detectives’ prior review; no Nassau County criminal charges tied to Rahn from that earlier inquiry are documented in the available facts.

All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
