A shooting in Groveland sent roughly 15 to 20 rounds toward a home after a dispute between two men, deputies say. The Lake County Sheriff's Office reported the incident at a residence on State Road 33 where deputies and the agency SWAT team responded after gunfire was reported in the early afternoon.

According to the sheriff's office, a verbal altercation between two brothers began over the alleged theft of multiple laptops. Deputies say the argument escalated outside the residence when the victim threw a ceramic bowl that struck a vehicle and shattered. The sheriff’s office alleges the suspect then told the victim he would cause death him, went inside his residence, retrieved a rifle and fired into the victim’s direction, discharging an estimated 15 to 20 rounds.

The victim reportedly fled back inside the residence as several rounds struck the home; the sheriff’s office reported no injuries. The arrest report notes a roommate was inside the house during the shooting and stated that when the two men have altercations they often introduce firearms, according to investigators.

Additional law-enforcement resources were deployed to locate the suspect, who fled the scene. Lake County deputies say the suspect was taken into custody at his residence later that evening, and the investigation remains active and ongoing.

All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
