Fort Worth apartment deaths under review as apparent murder-suicide

Fort Worth police say two adult female relatives were found dead inside a north Fort Worth apartment after a welfare check Wednesday night. Officers responded at 8:52 p.m. to an apartment in the Whistler Creek Drive after a concerned family member reported being unable to reach a resident and not receiving an answer when visiting the home.
When officers arrived one looked through a window and saw what appeared to be a deceased person inside; first responders then forced entry. Inside the apartment, authorities located the bodies of two adult female relatives. Both were pronounced dead at the scene, and investigators located a gun near the younger adult female.
The Fort Worth Police Department says the case is being investigated as an apparent murder-suicide, and the department’s Homicide Unit responded to the scene to make the final determination. Police emphasized the incident is believed to be isolated and poses no ongoing threat to the public.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victims’ identities and the official causes and manners of death after next-of-kin notifications. The investigation remains ongoing with Fort Worth police conducting follow-up work and awaiting the medical examiner’s findings.
