Fargo rental home sustains heavy smoke and fire damage after second-floor blaze

A structure fire heavily damaged a vacant rental home in Fargo on the afternoon of September 27. Crews from the Fargo Fire Department were dispatched after a call reporting a structure fire at a 4th Avenue South residence; firefighters encountered heavy smoke from the home’s second floor and porch roof upon arrival.

Responders arrived at approximately 3:38 p.m. and called a second alarm after observing active smoke and fire conditions. The department reports the fire was brought under control and extinguished roughly 20 minutes after initial crews arrived. The Fargo Fire Department deployed five engines, one ladder truck and two command vehicles to the scene, with support from the Fargo Police Department, Sanford Ambulance and the Salvation Army.

The home was vacant at the time; no occupants or pets were inside. The residence sustained significant smoke and fire damage, and a monetary estimate of losses has not been released. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to the Fargo Fire Department.

At this time there are no documented arrests, charges, injuries, or determinations of origin published by the investigating agency.
