Early-morning apartment shooting kills 19-year-old woman in Orange County
Orange County deputies responded to a reported shooting at an apartment complex near Rio Grande Avenue just after midnight and found a 19-year-old woman with gunshot wounds; she was taken to a hospital and later died. The incident occurred at the Lorenzo at East Mil Apartments, where deputies say they received the call at about 12:55 a.m.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, investigators arrived on scene and located the victim inside her unit. Family members told investigators the woman had been sleeping in her bedroom when multiple rounds struck the apartment. Deputies reported that at least four bullets pierced the bedroom window.
The sheriff’s office said detectives are actively following leads and asked the public for information. Investigators indicated there is currently no evidence suggesting anyone inside the home had been specifically targeted for violence. The agency is collecting witness accounts and processing the scene as part of the ongoing probe.
At this time the investigation remains open. The sheriff’s office advised anyone with information about the shooting or who witnessed events before or after the incident to contact OCSO’s non-emergency line or Crimeline, as the agency continues to develop leads and seek assistance from the public.
