Driver arrested after vehicle plowed into Orange County home during late-night street incident

A vehicle crashed through the front of a home on Alachua Street in Orange County around 11:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Surveillance video released by investigators shows three vehicles traveling at high speed on the neighborhood street moments before one of them—identified as a 2013 Dodge Charger—left the roadway and struck the residence. The homeowner was inside the back of the house at the time; no injuries were reported.

Troopers said the driver, 23-year-old Andriu Tomas Rojas Ozuna, abandoned the Dodge Charger at the scene and fled on foot after the crash. Investigators located and arrested Rojas Ozuna early Thursday at the address listed as the vehicle’s registered owner. He was booked into the Orange County Jail on a charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving property damage.

Neighbors reported the street has become a frequent meeting place for drivers who race through the area; surveillance captures of multiple vehicles speeding prior to the impact are part of the investigative file. The home’s front window has been boarded while repairs are underway. Troopers have not released information establishing why the vehicle left the roadway.

The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation. At this time authorities have documented the property damage, the arrest and the booking, but have not publicly attributed the crash to a specific cause beyond the recorded vehicle movements and the reported abandonment and subsequent arrest of the driver.

All individuals accused of a crime are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
