Deputy and Two Good Samaritans Rescue Woman from Burning Car on Apopka Vineland Road

A woman trapped inside a vehicle that had struck a tree and caught fire on Apopka Vineland Road was pulled to safety by two Good Samaritans and an Orange County sheriff’s deputy, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. A 911 caller reported the crash and fire, prompting deputies and firefighters to respond.

Body-camera video released by the sheriff’s office shows flames consuming the vehicle’s roof and thick smoke filling the passenger compartment as the trapped woman cried for help. The driver’s door was pinned against the tree and would not open, so rescuers moved to the passenger side to free her.

A nearby motorist, Justin Rountree, stopped after hearing the crash, grabbed a fire extinguisher and joined the deputy and a second Good Samaritan in the rescue. Rountree and the others removed part of the car’s top and helped pull the woman from the wreck before emergency medical personnel transported her to a hospital.

The sheriff’s office later shared the body-camera footage and asked for assistance identifying the two Good Samaritans who aided in the rescue. Authorities had not provided an update on the woman’s condition in the material released with the footage. The incident remains under the jurisdiction of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
