Arlington father arrested after fatal stabbing of young chld, another hospitalized

Arlington police say a man was taken into custody Wednesday night after confessing to stabbing his two young children, an incident that left a 5-year-old dead and a 2-year-old hospitalized. The agency reports the initial contact began when the suspect approached an officer in a patrol car at a gas station and tapped the vehicle’s window with a knife before fleeing.
Officers say the man led law enforcement on a pursuit along Interstate 30 that ended near Carrier Parkway, where officers deployed a Taser to detain him. Following his arrest, investigators say the suspect directed officers to a first-floor apartment unit; inside, police found two injured children who were transported to area hospitals. The Arlington Police Department and emergency crews handled the scene and subsequent transport.
Arlington police have booked the 27-year-old suspect into the city jail on capital murder, evading arrest, and making a terroristic threat against a peace officer; authorities say additional charges may be possible as the investigation continues. The department is the reporting and arresting agency and is conducting the criminal investigation.
What police describe as the suspect’s confession and the charging decisions are allegations at this stage. Investigators are still working to determine the motive and any additional facts relevant to charges and prosecution; the 2-year-old remains hospitalized and the 5-year-old later died from injuries, per agency reports.
