19-year-old woman fatally shot at Orlando-area apartment; detectives seek two people seen nearby
Orange County deputies responded shortly after midnight Thursday to an apartment on Ole Heritage Drive, near Americana Boulevard and South Orange Blossom Trail, where they found a 19-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a hospital and later died. The shooting is being investigated as a homicide by Orange County Sheriff’s Office detectives.
Investigators say deputies arrived at about 12:55 a.m. and recovered evidence at the scene; nearly a day after the incident detectives had not identified a suspect or determined what led to the gunfire. The sheriff’s office reported that nothing uncovered so far indicates the woman or anyone inside the apartment was intentionally targeted.
As part of the ongoing probe, detectives released photos of two people seen in the area around the time of the shooting and said those individuals may have information that could help piece together events before or after the gunfire. The agency emphasized the persons in the released images have not been identified as suspects, and detectives are seeking to speak with them as witnesses.
Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Orange County Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at 407-836-4357 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477). Tips that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $5,000. The investigation remains active.
